Week 26: Eu Vi um Pilar de Luz

This week has been wild. I'm in the Pilar Ward in Maua, São Paulo, Brasil now, with a new companion and everything. Both of us are new to the area, and although we live with two missionaries who already know their way around, we have the grand adventure of trying to get to know the area (which is really ridiculously huge) and find people to teach on our own. My personal strategy has been to keep walking until we're thoroughly lost, and then talk to literally everyone (asking for directions, teaching about Christ, inviting them to be baptized... you know, the usual) and pray that we find our way back home before 9. So far it's worked pretty well and we've met a ton of awesome people (the only difficulty is finding them again later).

My companion's name is Sister Melo, and she is super mellow. Seriously. We were talking about the people we're teaching and I used the word "investigator," and she responded by saying "You know, I like to think of them as friends. We're going to meet a ton of new friends today." She has a ton of love for everyone we've met, and is the kind of person who can connect with anyone instantly and converse for hours about everything they have in common. So in conclusion, she's awesome, and I'm very grateful to have her at my side for this transfer.

I know that God lives and wants to help us. He knows what we need to do to get better and become like He is, and He has given us prophets, the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and modern revelation to help us to learn, to change, and to become better each and every day. I know He loves us and I know that He's prepared all this to help us return to Him.

Love y'all!

Sister Hannah Hiatt
