Week 34: A Mission is a Piece of Cake

This week's miracle came about because of cake (as so many do). The ward had an activity where all the guys had to make cake (without any help from the women) and it was really funny (and very delicious). We got there a little early and found the chapel locked, so both companionships were waiting in front of the building, talking to two members, when two girls came up to us and asked if we were people from the church. Naturally we said "yes" and started talking. They said that they had been looking for a church since they moved here a few months ago and hadn't yet found one they liked. They were walking home when they saw us (in our skirts and name tags) and figured that we could help. They asked where our church was and we got to do a really dramatic reveal to show that it was, in fact, right behind us (it was kinda dark so they didn't notice before). We invited them to look around and come to the activity, and they accepted eagerly. We showed them the sacrament meeting room and the classes, and ended up in front of the baptismal font. They said that they'd never been baptized and never really understood why, and we had the privilege to testify about baptism for them. The Spirit got really strong and it was a sweet moment.

And then we ate cake.

In short, it was a really awesome activity and really was a blessing. They asked us to come back to teach them and their two brothers another day, and then they all came to church yesterday. They're really excited to learn more and I love teaching them. The Lord really does send miracles and I'm grateful to have been there to witness this one. We're meeting a ton of awesome people and I'm learning a lot, and I'm excited to continue serving the Lord. I know this church is true and that when we're willing to keep the commandments and follow His plan, we can receive joy and blessings beyond what we can even imagine.

Also my brother got his mission call!!! John's going to go to Brasil (yes, the same country) São Paulo (yes, the same city!!!) West mission. West. I'm in South. So we share a border and in big conferences and stuff (like maybe when the prophet comes to São Paolo in the fall....) we could hypothetically see each other. So that'll be wild. Pray for him!

That's it for today, but tune in next week for more stunning adventures of...

SISTER HIATT (doodly-doot-de-dooo!)

P.S. Send me some celery (we've been eating a lot of cake recently and I've been thinking about maybe possible eating a little healthier)
