Week 37: AS AGUAS DO BATISMO pt.2

A while back we met this lady on the street. She passed on her address and we marked a date to visit. But when we got to the house, we found a different person who said that no one actually lived there, and that the place was under construction. We got a little put out because she seemed so nice we couldn't believe that she had passed on a wrong number. (Lots of people give us fake addresses but she was nice and I was sure it was real).

We gave up and moved on to other people. But a week later we met her again, and she asked why we didn't go to her house. We explained what had happened and she said that the house had several families living there and it was only the first (the only one visible from the street) that was empty. We remarked a visit and this time, we found her and started to teach.

She cried when we taught her about the gospel. She's had a tough life and has really been looking for God. She accepted gratefully an invitation to go to church and walked there with only her 10 year old daughter. She loved the talks and the classes, and her daughter loved the primary. They accepted to be baptized the next Sunday and started preparing.

Saturday night she got sick. With pain in her chest and a fierce headache, she started to worry. Indignantly she said a prayer, saying"God, you can't let me die the day before my baptism. That's not right." (I thought that was kind of amusing, and it really shows her faith). Fortunately she recovered and yesterday she and her daughter entered the waters of baptism and were washed clean of everything that's happened in the past, ready for a new start.

Here's Rosita and Samanta. Aren't they adorable?

The other Sisters also helped a boy named Pedro Igor be baptized, too. His aunt and cousin were baptized a month or so ago, and he's really excited to join the church, too.

The rules are one cake per person being baptized so we made three cakes, which was good because about half the ward stayed to watch the baptism and everyone was hungry for lunch.

Kethelynn and Kemmily (the girls who were baptized last week) also received the Gift of the Holy Ghost in church Sunday, too, so in conclusion, it was a really good day.

Kemmily (she's kind of crazy)

Kethelynn (she's crazy, too)

My companion, Sister Medrano (she's the craziest out of all of them) (kidding, she's actually really mellow. She's from Ecuador and has a really awesome spanish accent. We got to the mission at the same time and we get along great. She's awesome)

And I think that's about it. It was an awesome week and really helped me to strengthen my testimony of the love of God. He really cares for us and miracles really do happen; we just need to have faith and be willing to act. I love God and I'm very grateful to be here serving as a missionary, helping people to see His hand in their lives and turn a little better.

Love you all!

P.S. Send me a new watch because mine broke this week (and no, it has not as of yet been stolen so pay up, those who bet against me)
